Practices in trade are increasingly controlled by legislative and Court-driven rulings.
Parliament has enacted the Fair Trading Act 1986 and the Commerce Act 1986 and both address trade practices, including the prevention of monopolies, restriction on unfair trading and prevention of misleading or deceptive conduct. There are time limits and appropriate procedures and remedies that apply under these acts .
Our members can advise on those issues and all others which impact on trade and impact on the principles which govern trade. We can advise on rights and remedies arising under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993. We can assist with any prosecution by the Commerce Commission under the Fair Trading Act or the Commerce Act or the Credit Contracts and Consumer Finance Act 2003.
