David Carden is a senior practitioner. He was admitted to the Bar in 1967. His practice is principally as arbitrator, mediator and adjudicator. He brings to those roles significant dispute resolution experience along with significant advocacy experience. He is a Fellow of the Arbitrators' and Mediators' Institute of NZ Inc in both arbitration and mediation areas and is on the AMINZ Panels of Arbitrators and Mediators. David is on the Advanced LEADR Panel of Mediators. He is on the list of adjudicator appointees under the Construction Contracts Act 2002 for AMINZ. He has been for 3.5 years an adjudicator under the Weathertight Homes Resolution Services Act 2002 having dealt with 82 appointments in adjudication claims. He has adjudicated in a significant number of Construction Contracts Act 2002 adjudications, mediations as a mediator and arbitrations as an arbitrator. David is also on the Adjudicators' Panel under the Retirement Villages Act 2002 and on the Mediators' Panel for .nz domain name mediations.
David's experience as an advocate has extended over the years since his admission to the Bar and includes membership of the Faculty of the Advanced Litigation Skills Programme of NZLS. David's range of legal experience is significant with recent concentration on the procedures and content of the Arbitration Act 1996, the Weathertight Homes Resolution Services Act 2002 and the Construction Contracts Act 2002. He has also had significant experience in medico-legal matters and professional discipline and is on the panel of prosecutors for the Auckland District Law Society. Earlier experience included significant involvement in Family Court matters.
